seasonmap is a map-first weather platform. We built it to need as little of your data as possible — here is the complete picture.
What we collect ourselves
- No tracking, and accounts are optional. Everything works signed out. We do not collect names or profiles, and we never track you across sites.
- Local preferences (like your smooth/banded map setting) are stored in your browser's localStorage and never leave your device.
- Approximate location is used only if you tap a map point or use a location feature, only to answer that request, and is not stored.
- Server logs. Our hosting and content delivery (Cloudflare) processes standard request logs (IP address, user agent) to serve and protect the site.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
seasonmap uses Google AdSense to show ads. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads, and — where you have consented — to personalize them based on your visits to this and other websites.

- You can opt out of personalized advertising at adssettings.google.com.
- Visitors in the EEA/UK are shown a consent message before any personalized advertising cookies are set.
Alerts (web push)
Push alerts run on our own servers — no third-party alert service. If you subscribe, we store exactly four things: your browser's push endpoint (an opaque address that identifies a device, not a person), your chosen alert topics, a region point rounded to half a degree (about 35 miles), and the National Weather Service zone codes for that region. Your precise location never leaves your device — your browser resolves the zone codes itself.
No email, no name. Turning alerts off deletes the record immediately.
Accounts (optional)
If you create an account, we store: your email address, a salted hash of your password (never the password itself), the places you explicitly save, and a small settings blob. That is the complete list.
Deleting your account removes all of it immediately — there is no retention window and no backup restore of deleted accounts. Signed out, saved places live only in your browser's localStorage.
Feedback you send
If you use the in-app feedback button, we receive the message you write plus the map view context you attach. It is used only to fix bugs and improve the site.
Data sources
All weather data shown here comes from public agency sources (NOAA/NWS, ECMWF open data, and similar). Requesting map data reveals nothing about you to those agencies beyond standard content-delivery logs.

Cookies and advertising
As of July 2026 this site sets no tracking cookies. Preferences (saved places, layer settings) live in your browser's local storage and never leave your device. If advertising is enabled in the future, a consent prompt meeting GDPR/CCPA requirements will be added for affected regions before any ad scripts load, and this page will document exactly what changed.
